A strategic thinker who has devoted his 25-plus-year career to building, optimizing, and leading large multispecialty group practices, Jim is passionate about driving alignment, growth, performance improvement, and transformation. He establishes excellent relationships with physician groups and believes that a successful integration engagement relies on having the proper organizational structure, leadership, and governance in place to drive physician engagement and alignment.
Jim has an extensive background in developing, managing, and improving all aspects of large physician group practices. He is also an operations expert who has managed growth and infrastructure development, led wide-scale cost improvement and revenue enhancement initiatives, and implemented management systems to drive process improvement and accountability.
Summary of Expertise
Before joining OnPoint Healthcare, Jim was the EVP & Chief Development Officer of IKS Health, a global management services organization serving the U.S. Healthcare Industry. Jim led Business Development, Client Services & Account Management for all U.S. Clients directly contracted with IKS Health. Under Jim's leadership the company has grown & added many marque health systems & academic medical centers to it's client portfolio.
Prior to IKS Health, Jim was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Baptist Medical Group (BMG), a wholly owned, nonprofit subsidiary of Baptist Memorial Healthcare. Jim was instrumental in the strategy, development, planning, and implementation of BMG. In particular, Jim:
Led the relationship development and acquisition activity, as well as the operational implementation, of more than 45 medical groups and 575 providers.
Managed growth, infrastructure development, and standardization that achieved extremely high levels of physician and patient satisfaction
Implemented financial and operational performance improvement initiatives to achieve high levels of physician engagement and improved clinical and financial results.
Under Jim’s guidance, BMG became one of the largest physician groups in the mid-South, with more than 600 providers in 150 locations across three states, 2.5 million patient encounters, and $500 million in revenue.
Jim has served in a number of leadership positions with the American Medical Group Association including board chair of the American Medical Group Foundation.
